Beloved Detroit DJ, producer & J-Dilla affiliate Andrés – whose “New For U” topped many year end lists as the #1 track of 2012 – will fly here to perform an exclusive extended DJ set, backed by BK up-n-comer Anthony Naples as well as a live PA of twisted disco house by 100% Silk’s Magic Touch. Excited to say that we’re installing the massive parachute ceiling canopy again for sound insulation. This will be a very special one!!

For the last couple years Jan Woo & other friends have been begging us to book Andrés, sending a few phenomenal mixes & tracks accompanied by the legend of being “J-Dilla’s DJ” as Slum Village’s touring turntablist in his early days. We’re thrilled to finally have him here. Andrés has been releasing a steady stream of funky music since the 90s, including projects with Theo Parrish and Moodymann. His sets & tracks tease the borders of deep house, hip hop, funk & downtempo boogie, with that turntablist skill & singularly deep vibe that seems to emanate from all things Detroit. I came across a great discogs comment that describes his tracks as “quintessential… soaked with ghosts of soul, sun and splendid melancholia.”

Magic Touch was in the first wave of 100% Silk, with his “Clubhouse” edits that were suffused with a warm glow of disco boogie positivity. Since touring in clubs around the world for the last two years and living in Berlin, his live sets have taken on a life of their own. Using mainly a Yamaha groove box from the 90s, he melts the raw material of disco loops & jacking beats into a heady pulsing, hypnotic, twisting groove state with dark & ecstatic undertones.

Brooklyn via Miami up n comer who’s first record of swingin deep house, “Mad Disrespect” came out last year on Mr. Saturday Night’s label, and made its way to the top of many year end charts. “Its rubber ball bleeps, lush and warm house chords, handclaps and soulful vocal chops.. imagines club music not as series of peaks and troughs, but as a breathing communal feeling in a constant state of flux, glowing with romantic love.” -LWE. Since then he’s started a label Proibito with Huerco S as its first release, and new EP coming soon on Triology Tapes.
