Come dress as your most mundane and unimpressively super powered alter ego, and enjoy a live set from Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, whose new album just hit on April 21 and is FANTASTIC.

Janet and Luke grew up in Mediumville next to the Giant Nuclear Volcano Power Plant and Office Supply Depot (GNVPPOSD). They used to frolick in corn fields together and complain about the height restriction on the local rollercoaster.

One day there was a horrifyingly predictable accident at the GNVPPOSD, killing everyone in it… except Janet and Luke.

Luke wheezed forth from the ash and paper clips. But he was different. The heat mix from the nuclear volcano had fused with his being, fundamentally altering it. At a nearby stream he held his hands out over the water and realised he could heat it, almost instantly, to become ever so slightly hotter. Like, a little bit. Maybe just above room temperature. He knew what his new identity was to be… Luke Warm! Never again would he sit on a cold toilet seat, or grasp a frozen door handle in winter.

Then Janet emerged, also changed. But How? Luke noticed immediately. The radiation from the power plant had caused Janet to mutate, irrevocably. She had become roughly 2 inches taller. That was all.

“If only there was still a rollercoaster,” said Luke.

It’s rumoured there are other survivors from that day – more SuperZeroes. People talk about Captain Elusive, but he doesn’t seem to be around much. Then there is Mortality Man who can stop a bullet with his bare chest – but only once. And Analog Shazam, who can figure out the name of that song you have stuck in your head if you can hum the bars properly and the bass isn’t too loud. Wander Woman, with her perpetual aimlessness, seems to be everywhere, but nowhere she actually needs to be.

There may be others too, yet to reveal themselves, all too aware that with mild power, comes a mild amount of responsibility.
