Best thing that happened in 2015: I redid my entire music studio with mountains of amazing hardware, including 30 vintage drum machines and a huge Eurorack modular system.

Worst thing that happened in 2015: I had my Paris show cancelled because of the terror attacks… However, it’s back on for January 29 and I added a Bordeaux show the next night!

The track I played out the most this year: Alex Bau: “On Synth”

My favorite new artist this year was: Silent Servant. OK, I know he has been around forever, BUT he was a discovery for me. The guy is on an upward path… super hot.

My favorite NYC place or party to play this year was: Bossa Nova Civic Club!

My favorite NYC-based label was: The return of Path Records. It’s great to see vinyl and old labels restarting!

My favorite NYC-based radio station was: YouTube!

My vote for NYC’s hottest DJs this year: Against Nature (Daniel Meagher)… We have the same tastes; as I say, he has “selection perfection”!

Record I’m most likely to drop on NYE: Double FM: “Illusion”

In 2016, I’m most looking forward to: My new album, “Separate Dimension,” coming out!

My New Year’s resolution is: It’s always the same… make more music!

Trend I predict will be big in ’16: Well, the trend of EBM/goth entering the techno world… and, well, all music will continue and some bands/artists will break out big!

movement-2015-hart-plaza-detroit-may-23-24-25-flyer-e1417228583744

Memorial Day weekend in Detroit has long been a tradition for many techno fans, a good deal of New Yorkers included. Travel plans didn’t really work out for us the past few years, but we’re heading to Movement 2015 and super excited to finally see what all the rave reviews are about!

Although the actual Paxahau-Events-run festival runs from Saturday the 22nd through Monday the 25th, dozens of outside events are sprinkled throughout the city all day and all night before and after Movement.

In addition to its stellar 140-artist-strong lineup, this year’s festival, taking place once again in the city’s Hart Plaza, promises lots of new amenties: lockers and charging stations, free bike valets, a technology area where you can play with the latest gear, expanded food options, and an enhanced Riverfront Biergarten that features Novation’s innovative new Detroit-history-focused art installation. For more info, including 2015 festival maps and set times, visit Movement.us. (There’s also a sweet app you can download from the site.)

We’ve put together a handy guide to what we think are the must-sees of Movement 2015 (both festival sets and non-festival events). Check ’em out below (and yes, we know there are basically no “bad” sets/parties in Detroit, so this is not an all-inclusive list)… See you in the D! (And stay tuned for our post-festival review and photos!)
