Don’t let winter’s sudden (and mostly unwanted) return get you down: There are plenty of dancefloors to keep you nice and warm this weekend. First, let’s run through a few breaking news items…
- Verboten’s trouble continues… In addition to being “seized” by NY State last week for failure to pay over $360,000 in sales taxes (after which the venue’s owners declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and reopened the doors), co-owner Jen Schiffer was arrested this week for allegedly writing $31,000 in bad checks.
- Happy third birthday to TBA Brooklyn! The intimate house haven is celebrating with a heavy-hitting lineup every night this week, so stop by, have a drink and a dance, and offer some of your best wishes this weekend!
- As we announced last week, we’ll be taking over 3001: Odyssey Disco (Rinsed’s three-week pop-up tribute to Bay Ridge’s legendary 2001: Odyssey venue) on Saturday, April 16. In addition to a one-hour open bar, sick indoor/outdoor space with roof access and panoramic waterfront views, art installations, state-of-the-art lighting, and a custom-built soundsystem, we’re pretty damn excited about our lineup, which includes local talent like R Gamble (Lost Soul Enterprises), Maroje T (REMEDY), our resident Facets accompanied by very special guest Antoni Maiovvi (Giallo Disco Records, which has some of the best sleeve artwork in the business as shown above), making his NYC debut all the way from Berlin. Maiovvi’s signature brand of cinematic, sinister, and darkly psychedelic italo “horror disco” is guaranteed to take the dancefloor to new and amazing heights! Grab limited $10 tix at Resident Advisor and we’ll catch you on the dancefloor next week! (The other five nights are pretty amazing too, so check out the lineups from the likes of local crews like Occupy the Disco, Safer at Night, Party Line, The Carry Nation, Night People, and more.)
Below are our top picks for where to dance in NYC over the next three days (as always, the most essential events are marked by **); you can also check out our calendar for the full list of what’s going on. See you on the dancefloor…
