Decision, decisions… The first weekend of December is positively slammed with parties to please even the most discerning music lovers. We’re gonna skip the news this week and save space for the long list of events you need on your radar, but quick shouts to The Lot Radio, who were awarded Best Online Radio Station in North America
by the Online Radio Awards, and the recently unveiled Smirnoff Sound Collective, the result of a collaboration between Mixmag and Smirnoff to “shift the diversity dial in electronic music and culture”
by bringing together seasoned mentors and talented up-and-comers to create new music and experiences, with a focus on promoting artists who are women, people of color, or members of the LGBTQ community. (The Collective’s launch was livestreamed from National Sawdust this week — check out sets from Collective members Cry Baby, Gina Turner, Autograf, Kevin Saunderson, and The Saunderson Brothers here
.) We also highly recommend you come out to Good Room Saturday night, when our resident Facets returns to the Bad Room to play alongside Tel Aviv’s Naduve
(the other room will be pretty excellent too, with Lindstrom playing live and Joakim and Barbie Bertisch on the decks)!
Our top recommendations for dancing in NYC this weekend are listed below (as always, the most essential events are marked by **); you can also visit our calendar for the full list of what’s going on. Catch you on the dancefloor…
