Sorry about the impromptu holiday hiatus we took last week, but we’re back with LOTS of stuff to tell you about…

  • New Year’s Eve is in sight! Bunches of events just got announced and/or went on sale this week (and they are slowly but steadily trickling onto our calendar). If you don’t yet have tickets for something, don’t panic: There are lots more announcements coming! (One of those will include our own shindig at The Graham, with a talented roster that includes some of NYC’s best disco and house talent — as a bonus, it’s being designed to go easy on your wallet, too, so keep this in mind if blowing $80 on admission to a club is out of your budget. More details soon!)
  • Big Happy 3rd Anniversary to Rinsed, the NYC underground’s most decadent (debauchery is highly encouraged) and enigmatic party: The spaces change from party to party, the lineups have spanned heavy bass heads to the godparents of Detroit house/techno, and the art installations range from breathtaking to mindblowing. From their modest beginnings in the loft space above Public Assembly to sold-out “straight until morning” warehouse ragers with top electronic talent from around the world, Dan Wender, Blacky II, and A.POP have a lot to celebrate… Which is why they are throwing not one, not two, but THREE anniversary parties. You’ve already missed last week’s, but you’ve still got time to jump on tickets to Part II with Crystal Waters, Braille, and Vanilla Ace tonight, or Part III’s Rinsed LIVE with some of our local favorites like Populette and Aurora Halal (Mutual Dreaming).
  • After debuting in October with a seriously killer lineup that included top talent like Ivan Smagghe (Black Strobe), Toronto’s Jokers of the Scene, and Lil Internet playing in a cavernous, smoke-filled space near Chinatown, it was clear YYYNYC was here to stay. The party’s second iteration looks equally impressive: Ewan Pearson (one of England’s finest producers/remixers), The Carry Nation (Will Automagic & DJ Nita), and James Friedman (head honcho at Throne of Blood Records) will handle the sonic duties this round. Next Friday (the 13th!), come see why it’s one of our favorite new parties of 2013…

  • And finally, since 2013 is almost ready to bid adieu, we’ll be doing lots of looking back on the year as it concerns NYC nightlife and dance music — coming very soon!

Your weekend recommendations follow below (as always, the most essential events are marked by **) — you can also check out our calendar for the full list of what’s goin’ on. And if you’re still craving the latest news — and want to enter our weekly ticket giveaways (next week, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to see Fred Falke at le Poisson Rouge, as well as a pair for INPUT at Output with Surkin, Canblaster, and Kaviar Disco Club!)  — come check us out on Twitter: @glitterballnyc.
