After possibly the longest week in history, having a three-day weekend is mighty appreciated. If you’re one of the lucky ones with no work on Monday, take note of some pretty special parties happening Sunday night and make the most of your bonus hours.
Two quick programming notes: On the downside, Bossa Nova Civic Club is temporarily shutting after this weekend to undergo some extensive construction work; watch this space for updates on when it’s back and raring to go. (The good part of this is that the work being done may mean no more — or, at least, shorter — lines on weekend nights.)
We’re also excitedly gearing up for our next party in the Bad Room at Good Room next Saturday (1/24) with one of the DJs at the top of our year-end wishlist, the excellent Man Power (Correspondant/Hivern/Throne of Blood), who will be in town all the way from Europe to blow our minds on the dancefloor. Joining him on the decks: one of our local faves, Throne of Blood label head James Friedman, and our resident Facets. A ticket ($15 advance/$20 at the door) gets you access to both of the club’s rooms, meaning you can also get to check out DJ Qu and A.Arias on the other side.
Nice free download of Man Power’s edit of The Cure’s “If Only Tonight We Could Sleep” here, too:
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming: Our top dancefloor picks for the next three days are outlined below (as always, the most essential events are marked by **); you can also check out our calendar for the full list of what’s going on. Catch you on the dancefloor…
