We made it to March, which means we can almost see summer out there in the distance, waiting for us by the pool with a frozen cocktail in hand. (Sure, that was snow you saw this morning, but it’s also supposed to hit nearly 70 next week so… boat parties and rooftop jams are coming soon!) We’ve got a few quick news items for you before we jump into the vast array of awesome dancefloor events happening this weekend.
- They grow up so fast these days: Now in its sixth year, roving underground party Rinsed is spawning a new record label, aptly named The Umbrella. The occasion will be marked by TWO parties this weekend: a secretly located rager featuring the legendary Jamie Principle (live), Mike Simonetti, and tons more, as well as a swanky affair at Le Bain Sunday for which special guests are still under wraps.
- Panorama Festival (July 22-24, Randall’s Island Park) announced its very promising inaugural lineup, which includes sets by LCD Soundsystem (live), DJ Harvey, Horse Meat Disco, Tensnake, The Black Madonna, Justin Strauss, Fixed’s JDH & Dave P, and the long-awaited NYC debut of Despacio, the pop-up party/custom-built immersive soundsystem created by James Murphy and Soulwax/2manydjs’ Stephen and David Dewaele (“all weekend long,” no less!). Passes went on sale today.
- March is looking busy for our resident Facets! His Dreamachine party this Sunday at Bossa features the awesome Hugo Capablanca, here all the way from Berlin, along with talented locals Chupcabras and Maroje T (no cover for this one!). Next Thursday (March 10), he’s back in the Bad Room alongside Blacky II (Rinsed) and David Kiss (The Deep), who are debuting their new Acid Eastern project; the main room will feature Oneman b2b My Nu Leng, Vik Rai, and more. (Psst, it’s free before 11 if you RSVP!) The Bad Room’s also the place to be on March 24, when Facets will join Nathan Gregory Wilkins, while Pearson Sound, Tessela, and Star Eyes work the decks in the other room. Get a taste of what to expect in the form of a new mix from Facets.
