What a difference a week makes… WOW. First, we’d like to extend our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones, homes, and belongings — as well as power — during Sandy. It’s unclear how long recovery will take, but it’s great to see that New Yorkers are banding together to help each other (with some sad exceptions we’ve heard about). Though GlitterballNYC is based in Brooklyn and we’ve been very fortunate this week, we sincerely hope you, your family, and friends are safe and that life gets back to “normal” as soon as possible.

That said, we understand dancing isn’t anyone’s priority during this time — coupled with all the rapidly changing details and cancellations of events, we haven’t been on top of updates this week. However, for those of you looking to get out of the house, celebrate the restoration of power in your area, or forget about Sandy’s wrath for a few hours, we’ve just added a ton of places you can go for excellent music, great vibes, and friends old and new. (This list may be updated as the weekend goes on, but as of “presstime,” these are the latest details.) Stay strong, NYC, and please keep safe out there. (Friendly reminders in the midst of chaos: Clocks go back Saturday night, and Election Day is Tuesday — VOTE!)

As always, the events that get our most glowing recommendations are marked by **. (For the big picture, check out our calendar.)
