Happy Weekend! While the daytime parties are starting to dwindle, there’s certainly no shortage of evening festivities here in NYC this September.

Before we jump into our top picks, a few things to bring to your attention:

  • Tonight is going to go down in history as possibly the best Rinsed party so far (we don’t dare say ever, because who wants to know you’ve already hit a peak…?) “So far” is still saying a lot… In addition to the jaw-droppingly cool aesthetics, dancefloor-jamming residents, and the usual first-hour open bar, tonight’s stellar lineup features an ultra-rare live PA set from Detroit legends Inner City (!!), as well as our favorite NYC DJ (and legend in his own right) Justin Strauss, and Dantiez Saunderson (who is following closely in his father’s footsteps and blowing minds these days with his own sets). To top things off, we’d like to quote directly from today’s Rinsed HQ email: “RINSED is the party that hundreds of people trek to in blizzards. RINSED is the party that puts humans in captivity for your own amusement. RINSED is the party that kicks people out at 7:30am after 10 ‘last songs.’ It’s the party that strippers come to after their shifts so they can keep making tips. RINSED loves fashion but RINSED wants to be crystal clear about something: We are underground and we don’t fuck with corporate money and “free parties” you’ll never get into. Shit is simple: Get a ticket, get in, tongue a stranger in our bubble-wrapped room, dance with a miner (not a minor), party till breakfast, and get an egg sandwich at the bodega on your way home.” Yeah, it’s like that. So we’ll see you there, yeah?

  • Another legend is playing earlier tonight: The one and only Peter Hook follows up his last U.S. tour — in which he played Joy Division albums in sequential order, to the delight of long-time fans worldwide — by taking on the first two New Order albums with his band, The Light. Read more in an article we posted earlier today.
  • Some Electric Zoo fans are about to get very happy: Although the cancellation of the festival’s last day meant missing out on some much-anticipated performances, Nicole Moudaber will be bringing her signature dark sound to Output’s Funktion One soundsystem this Saturday. The “Queen of Techno” will play alongside Kompakt’s Tom Peters — get the details here. Get psyched up for tomorrow with this free podcast download, Drumcode Radio Live from Cacao Beach, Bulgaria:
  • Lastly, FYI: If you RSVP’d for that pretty nice-looking MotoXMADE NYFW closing party in Bushwick tonight (you know, the one with Azari & III live, Hot Chip and A-Trak DJ sets, etc.)… good luck with that: Emails have already gone out warning “Your chances of getting into the party are extremely slim.” Way to go with the massive amounts of promo for that one and no cap on RSVPs… We are always confused (and pretty disgusted) by this kind of corporate gimmickry… pick one of the parties below instead and avoid tears…

Which brings us to… all the best events of the next few days have been hand-picked for you below (as always, the events that get our most glowing recommendations are marked by **), but you can also check out our calendar for the full list of what’s goin’ on.
